Yes, a UTI could put you into labor, but at 38wks the baby would be fine. As for being dilated, doesn't mean much. I was 2cm with my son for 2-3wks before I went into labor. Been desling with prodromal labor for weeks since 35 weeks.monday got more real labor was told i was in early labor 3 cm 50 % effaced then it eased off. Im 39 + 5. Completely up to baby lol. I have a friend who was 4cm dilated for a whole MONTH, still went past her due date, still had to be induced, and never fully dilated and ended up needing a c-section. Not that it might happen to you (not trying to scare you) but hopefully it will put your mind at ease that labor isn't necessarily right ....
